All depends on your metabolism, age, diet and exercise routine. If you drink a lot of beer, have a low metabolism, eat unhealthy and don’t get regular exercise then yep, you’re likely to get a beer belly.

No! You just get fat, wherever you are genetically disposed to gain weight, whether it be the waist, hips, thighs, etc.

You body turns alcohol into sugar, which it then either burns or stores as fat, depending your your caloric consumption.

In other words: if you take in more calories that you expend, you will gain weight, and vice versa.

Alcohol is empty calories, so your body still craves food, which makes you want to eat more, which makes you gain weight.

As your alcoholism increases, you may actually lose the desire for food, depending on your individual system. Many alcoholics are as skinny as a rail – and very unhealthy.

Before I got smart and stopped drinking alcohol, I used to consume lots of beer, however, I also worked at a physically demanding job and exercised regularly. I had six-pack abs but I felt lousy most of the time because I was ususally recovering from a hangover.

Now: I don’t drink, but what happened to my six-pack abs? They are under that layer of fat around my belly – somewhere.

Hope this helps.
