Healthy BMI For Diabetics
BMI or body mass index is a calculation to determine your ideal weight. It is based on your weight and your height and will tell you whether you are an ideal weight, overweight, or even obese. It is a measure of the body fat that you are carrying. It does seem to be quite accurate but there are some situations where the accuracy falls short of 100%. Along with this calculation you also have to look at other contributing factors like body type and muscle weight.
A BMI greater than 30 is thought to be obese. Anyone with a score in the high 20s or over 30 are thought to be at a much increased risk of developing type II diabetes. Another point to consider is your waist measurement. Men should be under 40 and women should be less than 35 inches, any more and again the risk of having a problem increases.
Maintaining a weight that is also considered a healthy BMI has many benefits including well-controlled blood glucose levels. Also, you should have more energy and can lower the amount of insulin you take and also have a longer life span.
Getting your body fat down will also get your BMI into a more healthy range, which is roughly 18 to 25. Go see your medical man and see if you can get some advice on how to achieve your aims. Don’t forget, if you are starting up an exercise routine, check with your medico first. Don’t push yourself too hard especially at the beginning of any exercise regime, as this should help you to save yourself from any injury.
